Daughter practically ripped the box out of my hands before I had a chance to even open it, thats how excited she was. She absolutley loves this Kai-Lan doll. My then 5-month old received this as a gift and was drawn to its appealing visual qualities. The tree and the animals are really really cute. Unfortunately it is not possible to roll the animals down the ramp without constantly nudging them as they get stuck along the curves, and they more often than not flip themselves over so they're not even rolling on their rollers. The track/ramp is either too narrow, or the animals are too wide, to roll freely. It is very hard to believe this toy was tested before being marked because it NEVER works.

There is a hole in the center of the tree trunk that you can put the animals into, and they fall down thru the center of the trunk and come out near the "merry-go-round" (purple, in the image). This is nothing more than a chute -- no ramp or slide inside the trunk. You're just dropping the animals, THUD. They could have at least put a little slide in there so the animals really come out with some pizzazz.

The animals are also designed too large to work as suggested inside the merry-go-round and the "teeter-totter".

There used to be another review that seems to have been removed, and it said that their baby pulled this toy over on himself because it's not sturdy enough. I too have had this experience. The baby always wants to reach the little red bird on the top, but while baby is seated, he really has to reach and sort of yank to get what he wants, and then the whole unit comes tumbling over to the fright of the child.

It's really a shame because it seems like there is a good idea here for a toy but it's executed so poorly on just about every front. At least the animals are cute and the music is good. When we saw the Go Diego Go Train set, it was immediately our choice. We set it up for our 2 yr. old and he went to town playing w/it all of the time. He LOVES it!

The downside for us was when the batteries went dead, we unscrewed the plate and replaced the batteries but the plate will not screw back in. We had to Gorilla (duct) tape it for him to still be able to play with it. I will be calling the manufactor to see if we can get a replacement on the actual train portion. Not sure what will happen?

I reviewed all the register's on Amazon, and chose this one. My son was disappointed because there is not a red light to scan things, like his friend's. Also, the microphone is there for looks. This Handy Manny toy is difficult for our 3-1/2 year-old to use. First, it's top-heavy, since Manny's head is so large that it doesn't stand or even sit steadily -- at the slightest bump, it tips over. Secondly, the tools are difficult for a toddler with small hands to fit into Manny's hand, and they only actually fit into one of the hands, not both, which frustrates my son even more, and the more he tries, the more the thing keeps falling over. Imaginext really has some of the most durable play toys out there today.
THis shuttle is so nicely made, realistic look and sounds.
In fact that might be one of the drawbacks though. When it does the Space shuttle BEEEP BEEP BEEP, it really isn't something I think that appeals to younger kids or draws them in.
My 2 1\2 year old son received this and the Imaginext boat for Christmas. I thought this was going to be the bigger hit of the 2, he was all over this in the box before it was wrapped. But he enjoys the boat more and I think it is, as another reviewer mentioned, due to the lack of interesting extras with this set. Really the tower is cool to set the shuttle in but outside of that offers no real draw. There is an elevator that is interesting but sticks on ours right now, not horribly, but still a bit annoying.

My two girls, ages 5 & 2.5, play with this just about every day. I got it about two years ago, and they still are going strong. They examine me, each other, and also play veterinarian with all of their stuffed animals. I think it's great for independent creative play, and also for alleviating some anxiety about going to the doctor. My kids know what to expect at a check-up now, because they practice pretty much constantly! Unlike another poster, I do not have to play with them for them to enjoy it. They are totally fine on their own - although when we first got it, maybe I did. They were younger then, though. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star review - and I'd give 4.5 if I could - is the case is somewhat small for all the equipment that needs to fit into it. Little hands will have a hard time picking up after they are done playing, because you really have to cram it all in there. Also, the clasp is fairly difficult to open. Even my 5-year old can't do it herself yet, and has to come to me each time she wants to play with it, if it got closed after last use. But, overall, those are minor complaints. It's rare that a relatively inexpensive toy gets so much use, and has my kids playing cooperatively, too. I gave it 4 stars for educational value, because several of the pieces of the equipment have spurned questions about the body, and how it works. For example, the stethoscope. I explained how your blood is always moving through your body, and the stethoscope helps the doctor hear your heart. That in turn got questions about the job of the heart, and what a heart attack is (Grandpa had had one), and how to avoid it, etc. etc. The needle for giving shots prompted a discussion about vaccines, germs, and other ways we can stay healthy.
