My 5 year old picked this out for a friend's birthday and then begged to have one for herself. She loves "Sparkles" and she has become an integral part of her play world. My main complaint would be that it is not mac compatible, so we had to wait about a week until we could go to a friend's house to program. Once it is programmed you are good to go and you don't have to redo. The batteries that came with the dog did not last, nor did our friend's dogs batteries. The dog will not say much (only one sentence) when the batteries are low. I thought we had a broken dog until my husband changed the batteries. We did not have to reprogram even after changing the batteries. My daughter wants another one in another color.
