This is a great toy, especially if you do not remove the demo tab inside.
I had to take out 4 more screws inside, to remove the internal section (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right), and also had to unplug the eyes, which are fixed into the casing.
Now you have to make sure you cut the right white wire, since there are 2 different ones plugged into a small plastic box with a metal piece sticking out, and another one pushed in. I cut the outermost white cable, and then it worked just fine with the high volume.
Fischer Price should definitively thought more on the design for the volume control. I purchased an octopus from Baby Einstein, which includes one and even a language lever, for Spanish, English and French.
