Trio is definitely not for young kids. I bought this set and another one for my 3 (almost 4) year old grandson. He was having trouble putting it together and lost interest quickly. I also had problems with it - maybe because it was a new set, but every time I put in one part another one fell out. The box said for 3-5 year olds, but his mom and I felt like it was for 5+.
