My mom actually bought this toy for my son around 7 months because he was starting to really show an interest in crawling. The toy was used mostly in the drum mode for the few times he's played with it. He didn't even pay attention to the lights as much as he payed attention to the small pieces that move back and forth and around on the sides. Each mode only plays 1 song so you hear the same thing over and over. It did not hold my son's interest. He plays with all his toys usually when they are out but his interest lasts for about 5 seconds with this toy before he moves onto something more interactive and fun. I found that just a regular ball worked best to encourage his crawling. Now that he does crawl he's more interested in what I leave around the house and don't want him to get into rather than his toys anyways. Save your money to get something really fun like the Little Superstar by Fisher Price. My son loves that toy and will play with it the longest out of any other toys he has.
